Now my sister and her British husband have moved back to North America, this time settling in Calgary, Alberta, where my husband and I visited them during a recent weekend excursion.

The annual Tulip Fest is around the corner, and thousands of cars descend on Woodburn to get a glimpse of those glorious buds. For the rest of us in the area, it’s a chance to show all these visitors what else Woodburn has to offer.

What started out as a joke has produced remarkable results for the North Marion football team. A photo on Facebook of coach Doug Bilodeau holding a sign that reads, “Will Work for Helmets” gained nationwide attention, and has not only spiraled into a viral success, but has established a new style of fundraising that could stick around.


Filling empty shell could be key to revamping downtown

Even though 4.5 million people frequent the Woodburn Company Stores every year, most of those visitors probably don’t even realize we have a downtown. Part of that is because there is currently no anchor tenant who drives people to shop, dine or do business there.
