Iola and Bill Hinkle were married on July 3, 1935, in?Oregon City at their Baptist minister’s home. They’re smiling nearly 78 years later, poring over their 50th wedding anniversary photos taken in 1985.
Bill and Iola Hinkle are just three years shy of being the longest married couple in the country.
But they’ll settle for being the longest married couple in Oregon, as recognized by the Worldwide Marriage Encounter, a Christian organization that provides marriage enrichment programs and honors couples that have been married a long time.
