Election May 2025: Candidates for the Mount Angel school board race

Election season is here once again, and Marion County has some empty seats to fill.
The 2025 special district election will take place May 20. All prospective candidates have filed their paperwork, and ballots will be mailed to voters April 30.
In Mount Angel, three school board seats are up for election. Each race is unopposed, and all three candidates have prior experience on the Mount Angel School District board.
Andrea Wavra Pfau
Andrea Wavra Pfau, current Mount Angel school board chair, is running unopposed for the Mount Angel School District Position 2 school board seat.
Pfau’s school board seat is set to expire in June, so she is running for another term. According to her filing documents, he had no elected or appointed government experience before serving on the Mount Angel school board.
Pfau is a teacher in the Salem-Keizer School District and previously taught in Woodburn and Beaverton. She earned her diploma from John F. Kennedy High School, an undergraduate degree in athletic training from Linfield College, a master’s degree in sports science from Oregon State University and another master’s degree in sports administration from Canisius College.
If elected, Pfau will serve a four-year term.
Shari Bochsler Riedman
Shari Bochsler Riedman, a current Mount Angel school board member, is running unopposed for the Mount Angel School District Position 3 school board seat. Riedman’s school board seat is set to expire in June, so she is running for another term.
In addition to previously serving on the school board, Riedman also has local government experience as a Mount Angel city councilor, school district budget committee member and Mount Angel Library Advisory Board chair.
Riedman currently works as a manager at Clackamas County Human Resources. She earned her diploma from John F. Kennedy High School and her bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Oregon State University.
If elected, Riedman will serve a four-year term.
Mark Brenden
Mark Brenden, current Mount Angel school board vice chair, is running unopposed for the Mount Angel School District Position 5 school board seat.
Brenden’s school board seat is set to expire in June, so he is running for another term. According to his filing documents, he had no elected or appointed government experience before serving on the Mount Angel school board.
Brenden is currently a substitute instructional assistant and teacher, and he previously worked as a manufacturing engineer. Brenden earned his diploma from Silverton Union High School and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Oregon Institute of Technology.
If elected, Brenden will serve a four-year term.
