Calling all Woodburn voters: If you’re stumped on how to cast your vote in the upcoming special election, wondering what will be on your ballot, and even when it’s due, here are some answers.
The 2025 special district election will take place May 20. All prospective candidates have filed their paperwork, and ballots were mailed to voters April 30.
The special election features school board races, local bonds and levies, fire district representatives and more.
In Woodburn specifically, the Woodburn School District board has four seats up for election and the Woodburn Fire District has two board of directors seats up for election. There is also a Chemeketa Community College bond on the ballot.
Voting timeline
On April 30, all registered voters living in Woodburn were mailed ballots for the special election.
If you are registered to vote but didn’t receive a ballot, the last day to have one mailed to you is May 15.
If you still do not have a ballot after this date, you can pick up a replacement ballot packet from the Senator Hearing Room Voter Center at 555 Court St. NE in downtown Salem.
The last day to drop off your ballot at a drop box is 8 p.m. May 20. If you cast your ballot by mail, it must be postmarked by Election Day and received in the mail by May 27.
How to cast your ballot
There are multiple ways to vote in this upcoming election, including voting by mail or dropping off your ballot.

To vote by mail, place your ballot in the provided envelope and sign it carefully to match your signature on file. You don’t need to put postage on your return envelope, but it must be postmarked on or before May 20 and received by May 27.
